myoujin yahiko
Yahiko was born into the noble class of Samurai's in the 19th century. Yahiko's mom and dad died when he was young and left him in debt with some gangsters, living his life stealing other peoples money and belongings throughout his life. One day Kenshin and Kaoru find him and then help him get out of the gangsters, this is when Yahiko became the Number 1 student of the Kamiya Kashiin Ryu Dojo. His sword technique has a mixture of Kashiin Ryu with some of the Mitsurugi Ryu (^^; mostly tried to copied Kenshin's technique moves) He is really high-skilled in sword styles. He looks up to Kenshin a lot like a role model. He is a guy with a lot of honor and determination in his heart and soul, and this should be really admired, this is some of the things that some RK fans miss. Yahiko is part of the Kenshingumi, he's not annoying like SOME other anime kids. He's been thrashed, stepped on, wounded, even worse... being bopped once in a while by Kaoru when he calls her Ugly. Yahiko has won many important battles in his life, he's not some whiny kid who gets hit and then sulks in a corner, even when he has been wounded he continues on until he finishes his fights!
Like all 10 year old boys, Yahiko dislikes doing chores and always gets bopped or gets thrown sandals at him by Kaoru because of this. They argue and tease a lot until up to the point of his Genpuku (This is when you reach a certain age of 15 and become a mature swordsman), They are still good friends... Though it may not always show, there's a deep affection between these two. The relationship with Kenshin and Yahiko is unhampered by the elevated God-status that Kenshin has achieved in Yahiko's eyes. The Rurouni Kenshin anime series ends when Yahiko is still a young boy, and Kenshin and Kaoru have only begun to admit their feelings for each other. The manga series, on the other hand, features a last few chapters jumping several years into the future. It is here that we see Kenshin and Kaoru happily married (with a young boy named Kenji along for the ride), and Yahiko grown into a young man of 15. These chapters show Kenshin passing on his famed sakabatou (reverse-blade sword) to Yahiko after challenging him to a single bout. (Yahiko is knocked flat on his back and Kenshin receives a litte nick to the shoulder.) Other than that, he even brought back Kenji to his ill mother, also giving him an easy defeat! Yahiko also seems ready to be a father! (This is what Kaoru stated at the end of Seisouhen) probably having a child with his darling Tsubame. As we look at it, Yahiko has truly become the man he wished to be.
