About this Site
The Site
  For those who don't know, this site is based on the anime/manga Rurouni Kenshin. We bought this site on January 23, 2003 and made the layout the same day. We are proud of our name thank you. We thought of it when we thought of kenshin and his oro (which is a phrase or word he repeats throughout the series - please watch this), but we knew oro.com,net, and org were already taken so we thought and came up with THE-oro.com. We personally like it, it's not too long or too short, and so original. I was tired of names like "bloody rain" and "white plums" etc. that were overused.

Idea
  We wanted to make a Kenshin site that was different. We knew we couldnt do anything really over-rounded, so we decided to have it more fun then informative, hence more multimedia and interactive. As time went on however, we began to expand in more directions then we planned, and here we are now, one of the biggest sites on the web for Kenshin... and the few still updated.

The Anime
  Rurouni Kenshin is made by Nobuhiro Watsuki. It is based on a samurai who fought in the Japanese feudalist times as a shadow assassin (which are the OVA's) and after a tragedy he decides after the war is won he will never lift the sword again (which carries in the tv series). He then wanders for ten years and ends up in Tokyo, where the TV series starts. There he encounters his old enemies and the same problems he tried to avoid... The Problems
  We have had many many with the-oro.com. It was deleted 5 times, then suspended for 2 weeks because of "copyrighted MP3's" and we had to give those up. Then when it came back online our whole site was deleted, which was bad because later our user XP user account was accidently deleted, loosing our files, MP3's, and impending scans. As the time went on, the-oro began growing and we faced bandwidth problems. The site had gone over the limit of 100 gigs of bandwidth 3 times, costing over 300 dollars to get it back online and pay for overused bandwidth. But thanks to users' donations and ads, we brought that back up. We keep holding on ^_^... and ended up moving it on a permanent server to keep it there.
